The project partner, Centre for Research and Action on Peace – KEDE is a Greek association founded in 1988. It has recently celebrated its 20 years of work contributing to the promotion of a culture of peace through the empowerment of women, youth, and civil society. KEDE has been developing initiatives and actions in Greece and other countries in order to ensure “the diplomacy of the citizen” via various culture and art actions concerning photo exhibitions, art and communication workshops and actions targeting youth. In this action, KEDE partnered and shared its experience with Istanbul Digital, and they worked together in the design and realization of the Instructors Meeting and Creative Documentary Development Workshop. KEDE was also responsible to mobilize artists and instructors who will participate in the project from Greece. KEDE acted in close cooperation with the local actors from Mytilene: University of Aegean and Aeolis, the associate partners of this proposal that have prior collaboration experiences and strong relationships with KEDE. KEDE was also be responsible for the organization of the screenings in Greece.


  ECF – European Cultural Foundation is an independent organization based in the Netherlands that has been operating across Europe for nearly 60 years. ECF initiates and supports cultural exchange and creative expression across wider Europe. It shares and connects knowledge across the European cultural sector linking inspirational people and ideas to cultural policy making both in local communities and on the European political stage, and campaign for the arts on all levels of political decision-making. The foundation links policy and practice, to act as catalysts for artistic and cultural expression and to have a concrete impact on European cultural policies and strategies. ECF is a major financial contributor to Istanbul Digital Culture and Art Foundation supporting the North Aegean Narratives project as an associate by helping the dissemination process through its network of artists and other cultural operatives across Europe.
AEOLIS-Cultural Development Society of Lesvos Island, a non-profit organization based in Mytilene, which organizes cultural activities, develops actions in the field of cultural tourism, organizes theatre and cinema shows, music events, cultural visits and excursions, workshops and conferences which aim at informing and sensitizing the citizens on Greek language and art, the natural environment and the global cultural heritage. Aeolis cooperated with KEDE and implemented local dissemination activities as well as disseminated the project nationally and internationally through its contacts.
  The University of the Aegean is an international research oriented university in the Aegean Archipelago founded in 1984. The UoA embodies the concept of a ‘university- network’- a network of schools and departments, dispersed over six Aegean islands: Lesvos, Limnos, Chios, Samos, Rhodes and Syros and has currently around 12,000 students. UOA made a significant contribution to the project by mobilizing young artists living in the region and organizing the screening in Mytilene. It also provided highly qualified local instructors from the region.
Karpos-Centre of Education and Intercultural Communication develops local and European projects encouraging self-expression as well as the exchange of views and creative ideas through the use of different forms of media. Karpos strongly believes that, in a society where images surround us, these tools can empower both young and adult citizens to participate in social transactions and bring forward their own alternative voices. Karpos specializes in how media, image and sound can develop narratives and how they can be introduced in educational environments.
  Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University based in Çanakkale was founded in 1992 and it has currently more than 22,000 students. COMU contributed to the project by hosting the screening in Çanakkale.
  Yildiz Technical University based in Istanbul, is the 3rd oldest university of Turkey with its history dating back to 1911 and currently has more than 17,000 students. YTU will contribute to the project by providing a venue and hosting the closing conference of the project as well as the screening of short films in Istanbul.
  Anadolu University based in Eskişehir was founded in 1958 and currently has 24.000 students. AU will contribute to the project by providing a venue and hosting the screening of short films in Eskişehir.
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is a higher education institution established by “Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation”. IUE is the first foundation university in Izmir and the Aegean region and began to accept undergraduate students in 2001. IUE aims to educate and equip qualified students with leadership attributes, entrepreneurial capabilities, critical thinking skills and the ability to contribute valuable research in a variety of sciences. IUE made a significant contribution to the project by mobilizing young artists living in the region and organizing the screening in Izmir. It also provided highly qualified local instructors from the region.
