Sibil Çekmen

Born in Istanbul in 1983, Sibil was graduated from Yeşilköy Armenian Primary School and Saint Benoit French High School. After following two years of biology and genetic classes in Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, she preferred to study filmmaking. Graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Film and TV department, she worked as a reporter and an editor in the weekly newspaper AGOS. After two years of experience in Anadolu Kültür as a project coordinator and assistant, she worked in İMC TV as a reporter, an editor and presenter. She has been a member of the Nor Radyo staff (an online internet radio station) since its creation in 2009. Now, she is working as a freelance project coordinator and translator on different projects.

Her short film, ‘Hadigner’ (Seeds, 2009), was screened in several festivals in Turkey, Armenia, France, Switzerland and Morocco.

Sibil says:

Life is hidden in all those tiny details, which sometimes they seem to be so natural that we don’t even pay attention to them. But, once we start observing, there are 10,000 stories to tell.”
