Özge Deniz Özker

Özge Deniz was born in Tekirdağ in 1981. She graduated from Eskişehir Anadolu University, Cinema and Television department in 2004. After graduation, she worked in Eskişehir Municipality as a cameraman and then leave her job to work in a private civil aviation company as an aerial photographer. For two years she took lots of photographs from different cities of Turkey, then she went to İstanbul and worked as a second director and editing director in different projects. In 2008, her first illustrated children’s book “Zizi’s Dreams” (Zizi’nin Düşleri) published by Tudem publications. Since 2009 she has been employed in The İzmir University of Economics as a photography studio technician, where she’s been the instructor of the Photography Club since 2011. Özge Deniz is currently working on her masters thesis “Aerial Abstractions: Aerial Photography As An Art Form” in the same university. She made a documentary film titled “Overlooking to the Sea” (Denize Bakan), which was granted by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, in 2011. The subject matter is three different lighthouses as a cultural heritage and the memories and anxieties of their keepers. She continues to make documentary films as an independent director.
