Myrto Papadogeorgou

Born in Athens in 1980, Myrto studied in England and Spain to obtain her Masters degree in creative documentary. She then got her diploma in digital video production from New York University, USA. Myrto has been directing, editing and producing documentaries for various TV channels since 2010. She likes to work on simple stories, that are marked by a very close, almost autobiographical angle, but with a cinematographic approach that is based on the rules of fiction rather than those of traditional documentary filmmaking.

Myrto says:

“Traveling is most exciting. It is a pure source of inspiration. And so is the contact with different realities, as it unmasks the veil of the unknown. Which is also what I believe documentary filmmaking hopes to achieve: to uncover and explore everyday realities and break through the stereotypes and prejudices produced by (mostly) mainstream media. By combining all of the above the North Aegean Narratives initiative makes a very intriguing challenge. I hope more serious initiatives like this one are taken because we live in a part of the world where the lack of funds and support systems for new artists are threatening to throw us into a creative desert. And we have so much to say…”
