Deniz Şengenç

Deniz was born in Bandırma in 1984. She is currently an undergraduate in the department of sociology at Istanbul Bilgi University. She has been assuming different roles such as assistant producer, writer, assistant director, and director in various documentary film projects. She worked as an assistant producer in Nigol Bezjian’s documentary film “Milk, Carnation and Godly Song” about the Armenian poet Varoujan. And she was the camera person in another Nigol Bezjian’s documentary called “I Left My Shoes in Istanbul”. Deniz started a documentary film project in 2011 named as “The Fish Has Just a Tail”, which is about fisher men and women and the sea life. She is the director and producer of this film.

 
Deniz says:

“I had lived most of my childhood in Ayvalık and Balıkesir, and being from the Aegean has always been a different experience for me. I am looking forward to sharing such experiences with others from both sides of the Aegean, and collaborate in this collective project.”
